Mangaluru: The first phase of Gram Panchayat polls saw a good turnout of voters across Dakshina Kannada district on Friday, May 29.
At the end of the day, Dakshina Kannada district recorded total of 74% votes. While Mangaluru taluk registered 68.73% votes, Bantwal taluk recorded 73.40% votes. Meanwhile Belthangady taluk registered 72.89% votes, Puttur taluk recorded 75.43% votes and Sullia received 77.94% voter turnout.
However, elections in Bandharugram panchayat in Beltangady taluk and Padu Perar in Mangaluru taluk have been postponed to May 31 between 7:00 am to 5:00 pm as the polls faced issues with printing of election symbol and absence of a symbol in ballot paper.
