Mangaluru: As per a report by ANI, an official statement has confirmed that foreign gold was seized from a passenger at the Mangaluru International Airport on Tuesday.
The seized 24 karat gold weighs 1,052.90 grams and is estimated to be worth Rs 34.75 lakhs, as per the report.
As per the statement, the gold was found “concealed as 2 mercury coated ingots in the motor of Nikai brand mixer in check-in luggage”. The passenger is said to have arrived from Dubai in a SpiceJet flight.
Reportedly, no information has been revealed about the identity of the passenger or of an arrest. However, it is learnt that a case has been registered and an investigation is underway.
