Moodabidri: After nearly two months of lockdown, the government has allowed wedding programmes with certain conditions.
How many are willing to follow the guidelines is something to watched out for, but here in Moodabidri one person has already announced that he is renting out wedding venue at concessional rates, strictly following the government guidelines.
Ganesh Kamath, proprietor of ‘G.K Garden City’ has come forward to rent out his venue for Rs 30,000.
Located at Padumarnadu near Moodabidri, the rent, which was Rs 45,000 has been slashed by Kamath to Rs 30,000 owing to the lockdown.
In yet another delightful offer, the proprietor of GK Garden has also decided to provide add-ons like hall decorations, power generating system, sound system, garlands in the venue tariff of Rs 30,000.
With this, organisers can now breathe easy as most of the expenses of putting up a lavish event has been now taken care in just Rs 30,000.
Apart from this, vegetarian food for 50 persons too will be provided at GK Garden City in the same package.
GK Garden City to follow guidelines strictly
Those who attend the wedding programme should follow certain guidelines, which are issued by the government like maintaining social distancing, using sanitizer, wearing mask among others.
The organisers of wedding programme should ensure that only 50 member attend the programme. Gates will be closed to ensure not more than 50 members attend the wedding programme.
Each and every person should wear mask including bride and groom while entering the event venue.
Sanitizer should be used at the entrance of the venue and after consuming beverage at the entrance, the guests will have to use sanitizer again.
After entering the venue, maintaining of social distance is must.
While wishing bride and groom at the venue, only two persons will be allowed on stage at once. Clicking group photos is prohibited. While having lunch also, measures will be taken to maintain social distancing.
Speaking to Newskarnataka.com Ganesh Kamath informed that the package he has offered is his own way of helping the society in the times of crisis.
” I am not doing this for money, publicity or popularity. I know what poverty is and with the corona issue, marriage will be a big burden for poor family. Hence I decided to help people in my own way,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ganesh Kamath is planning to create awareness among the public about staying safe amidst the Corona crisis.
He has decided to distributed 5,000 stickers carrying messages on social distancing, use of sanitizers, respect for Corona Warriors etc.
Early life of Kamath
Ganesh Kamath’s journey in itself is an inspirational story that talks eloquently of courage.
He used to work for an electrical contractor two decades ago. While on duty in Karkala, his employer asked him to scale a 25 foot scaffolding to fix a light bulb on a flood light. He lost his balance and the fell. His hands had come in direct contact with the live wires. Due to this, his hands were severely damaged and doctors had to ampulate both his hands.
It took him three months to recover from the physical injury and trauma from the incident. However, with prosthetic limbs in place, life was never the same.
Kamath was fired from his job and in a helpless state, he decided to take control of his life in his own hands.
He started a small business of renting out two music systems for wedding events.
From a meagre earning of Rs 350 per day, he gradually grew into opening a small firm named ‘GK Decorators’.
Today, he is a live example of how grit and determination can change lives. With a turnover of lakhs of rupees, Kamath is now in a position to offer help to people who cannot afford to get an event organised due to cost issues.
He has over 40 employees working for him.
Kamath is married to his former colleague Latha and the couple has a nine-year-old daughter.
