Mangalore: Giving Tree Trust, a non-profit organization, has come up with a website www.mangaloreblooddonors.com, which links blood donor to the patient in the city.

Giving Tree Trust is a Non Profit Organization established with the intent of setting up a platform for citizens to contribute for the welfare of the society and make it a better place to reside in. Based out of Mangalore, our sole aim is to provide a helping hand to the underprivileged sections of the society and thereby bring about a positive change

www.mangaloreblooddonors.com is one of their long term projects which aims at helping people to arrange for blood in times of emergency. This website is designed such that the donor as well as the person in need can register. As soon as we get the request, through the search engine they will send the required units of blood to the hospital.  They  have already 1000 registered donors and will be starting a registration drive soon after the inauguration.  This facility is specifically for Mangaloreans as till date there is no specific  facility for this purpose catering exclusively to Mangaloreans.

Apart from this project, Giving tree trust has been part of a lot of social activities.

One of the members, Dentist Dr Bhaskar K R said that the website is designed and maintained by 30 volunteers of the trust, which gives option for the donor as well as the person in need to register.

During a recent blood donation camp organized as part of launching the website, the volunteers got 1,000 plus donor registrations. “We are in the process of uploading the details on the website,” said Dr Bhaskar, adding that a click on the website will let a user know how many donors are there from each blood group.
