Bantwal: A man has been assaulted by a duo after a lady went missing from the village. The attackers alleged that the girl had eloped with the son of the assaulted person.

Abubakker (58), a resident of Pilinguli village near Shirankallu was attacked on Sunday evening when he was at a shop.

Abubakker had lodged a complaint in this regard against Chandrahas and Dinesh. He has stated in his complaint that the two approached him on pretext of starting a conversation and later assaulted him. When people gathered, the two attackers escaped the scene.

Anticipating trouble, the police have shut down all shops and commercial establishments.
