Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada unit of Akhila Bharath Hindu Mahasabha – which is active ever since BJP came to power in the centre – said that it would bring back at least 100 persons in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi in 2015.

Speaking to the reporters here on Friday, spokesperson Dharmendra K said about 100 to 150 people has been already identified for re-conversion to Hinduism. We will hold a grand program to bring them back openly. It would be announced in a meeting of seers to be held after April 2015, he added.

He further said that the process of bringing those who are willing to return to Hinduism has been going on in Dakshina Kannada through Arya Samaj since long. However, the activity was not revealed to the public as Dakshina Kannada was a “communally sensitive” district.

Dharmendra also claimed that when he was the Secretary of the Arya Samaj about four years ago, as many as 40 people had converted to Hinduism.

He said those who convert are free to choose the caste they want.
