Mangaluru: On July 19, at the North Police Station in Mangalore, an official carried out a raid at a shop owned by a person named Manohar Shet and seized 300 packets of chocolates worth 48,000 rupees, which were filled with 592 grams of weed (marijuana) each.
On the same day, another raid took place near Highland, where 55,000 rupees worth of chocolates were confiscated. Additionally, a person named Tetin Sonne was also arrested in connection with the case.
The seized chocolate packets were sent to the forensic science laboratory for examination to determine the presence of any addictive substances like drugs. As the laboratory confirmed the presence of weed in the chocolate packets, the accused individuals have been charged under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. They have been presented in court and have been remanded in judicial custody for 14 days. Currently, the accused are being held in the district jail.
