Vittal: A gang that barged into a house near a Mosque at Bolmar opened fire and attacked as many as four persons with swords and other lethal weapons on Thursday late night in Karnataka-Kerala border area. However, while four were severely injured, no deaths have been reported.
Majeed (26), his wife Ayesha Fauziya (24), Majeed’s mother Nabeeza (45), brother Siraj (23) are the injured.
The gang of 20 to 30 masked men who arrived in four cars unleashed terror inside the house. It is said that rivalry could have been the reason behind the attack.
The gang had fired over 50 rounds in the air and several locals who were at the Masjid late in the night due to Ramzan month spotted the same.
The locals have identified two brothers who were reportedly among the attackers. The attackers resorted to vandalising the vehicles that were parked outside, which included a bike and a car of two locals. After executing the attack, the gang had fled to Kerala, said eyewitnesses.
It is said that the region has been witnessing problems due to illegal transportation of sand to Kerala and on Wednesday late night one lorry in which Majeed was working as a cleaner was stopped and Majeed and driver Aziz were attacked. The Thursday attack is said to be a continuation to the same. Case has been registered.
