Moodabidri: Bharthiyamma of Gowri temple, a well known gandhian died at the age of 89 on Monday, July 18.
She had moved to Chennai before independence and stayed there for nearly 40 years. She was involved in the freedom struggle and established contact with Gandhiji during those days.

She gained fame as a culinary expert when she cooked delicious dishes at Gowri temple fest forty years ago. Bharthiyamma served tasty food to hundreds of guests in an orderly manner on that occasion.
