
Mangaluru: The much-awaited project of all-weather fishing jetty will come up at Kulai and the foundation stone for the same will be laid by Union Minister for Road Transport Highways and Shipping Nitin Gadkari through video conference on March 5.
Speaking to the reporters at Circuit House on Monday, March 4, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said, the total cost of the fishing jetty is Rs Rs 196.5 crore, out of which Rs 98 crore will be provided through Sagaramala scheme and New Mangaluru Port Trust (NMPT) will provide Rs 85 crore. Among the total expenditure, 5 percent will be provided by the state government” he said.
“Gadkari will lay foundation stone to other important projects also like four laning concrete work on national highway 169, between Kulashekar to Karkala, city ring road between Mulki to Konaje via Kateel, Bajpe, Kaikamba, Polali, Melkar and Mudipu. Foundation stone will also be laid to the new bridge at Kuloor which will come up at the cost of Rs 65 crore”, Nalin added.
As all these projects are in the starting stage, the union government will take measures to repair the existing roads. “Though four laning concretisation work between Kulashekar and Karkala will take a minimum of 2-3 years to complete, the same stretch will be asphalted at the cost of 12 crore. The stretch between Punjalkatte and Charmadi will be asphalted at the cost of Rs 10 crore and Mani and Mysuru stretch will be asphalted at the cost of Rs 20 crore, Nalin informed.
Meanwhile, Nalin expressed his pleasure over successfully completing his tenure of 10 years as MP of Mangaluru Lok Sabha constituency. “Administrative approval has been received for plastic park, coast guard training centre, central school at KREC and coconut park at Bantwal. Proposa has also been submitted to set up IT park in Konaje and a rural centric special agricultural zone, he informed.
NHAI project director Samson Vijay Kumar, engineers Ajith and Amrutha, corporator Prakash Salian and KFDC former chairman Nithin Kumar were present.
