Mangaluru: Mysterious death of Alvas High school student Kavya has brought together organisations from various quarters to impress upon the government to ensure fair probe into the case.
Friends Ballalbagh Biruver Kudla, joining voice, on Saturday demanded CBI probe into the death of the said 15-year-old sportsperson who had shown her talent at the national-level badminton.
Kavya was found dead in her hostel room on July 20 and her parents have alleged that their daughter was killed.
Addressing the press meet here on Saturday July 29, Sahana Kumari president of women’s wing of Friends Ballalbagh Biruver Kudla said that though the organisation has immense respect towards Alvas Foundation Chairman Dr Mohan Alva, death of Kavyashree is shrouded in mystery and the truth needs to be unearthed.
“Dr Alva has said that he is open for an investigation. Now he should make sure that nobody from his institution is protected,” she said.
“Even in past two girls have committed suicide in the institution. The district has several cases of mysterious death of girls, hence to put an end to such deaths in this district the organization has come forward,” she added
Adding that a phone conversation between Kavya and her mother is making rounds in which Kavya spoke about how the Physical Education Teacher fixing up 4.30 am schedule for practice while Dr Alva claims sports practice happens only around 6am. “There is contradiction here. The Physical education teacher should be quizzed. Kavya did not seem unhappy in the conversation. Hence it is not a possibility that she had ended life. There has been foul play, ” she suspected adding that even before Kavya’s parents could reach Moodabidri from Kateel, which is close to Moodabidri, the body was shifted to the mortuary in haste.
The organisation has decided to stage a massive stir it the case is not handed over to the CBI.
