Mangaluru: As Mangloreans are facing acute water scarcity for the first time, Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) has started a new scheme to supply drinking water to satisfy Managaluru’s thirst for free.

Mayor Harinath launched a free drinking water supply programme yesterday at the Karavali Utsava ground.
Speaking to Newskarnataka, Mayor Harinath said that, drinking water will be supplied area wise. The MCC has identified 171 borewells in Mangaluru, including acquired private borewells from which drinking water will be supplied Mangaluru.
“The MCC has provided Sintex water tanks. The driver and fuel costs will be looked after by the Registered Contractors Association, Mangaluru. This facility will be available till rain fall starts in Mangaluru,” he said.
He urged the people of Mangaluru to make use of this facility.
