Former MLA Mohiudeen Bava has made significant statements regarding his political affiliations, sparking intrigue amidst upcoming election discussions. Addressing the media on Monday, March 18, the former MLA asserted his continued membership with the JDS party while also extending support to the BJP, albeit with reservations about certain ideologies.
Bava conveyed, “I am still a member of the JDS party, but I also lend my support to the BJP. However, I do not align with certain ideologies of the BJP.” He further disclosed that his supporters and well-wishers have urged him to consider contesting in the upcoming elections. Bava intends to deliberate on this matter with his supporters on March 28 before making a final decision.
Regarding his status with the JDS, Bava clarified, “I remain a member of the JDS party. However, since the JDS has allied with the BJP, I extend my support to the BJP.” Nevertheless, he emphasized his disagreement with certain BJP ideologies, particularly regarding the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), Hijab, and Azaan. Additionally, he expressed opposition to former Chief Minister Kumaraswamy’s visit to the Kalladka school.
Reflecting on his past political journey, Bava recounted his disappointment with the Congress party for not considering him for a ticket, even during a period of fasting. This disappointment led him to join the JDS. While acknowledging past mistakes, Bava expressed his intention to consult with supporters before making any decisions, particularly regarding independent candidacy. He previously attributed his loss of the MLA ticket during the last assembly elections to the state president.
