Sullia: Forest man Kenchappa Gowda, who has been living in deep jungles of Sullia over the last 48 years has turned down the proposal of the district administration for rehabilitating him in a destitute home in Mangaluru.
Kenchappa Gowda wants to live in the forest
Gowda has been living like a stone age man out of his own wishes in the forests of Miyoni of Markanja village in Sullia taluk. He has been living all alone in his own world, without much contact with the outsiders.
However, Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada A B Ibrahim, who learnt about Gowda, recently directed officials to make arrangements to shift the septuagenarian to a rehab centre. Following this Sullia Tahshildar and other officials had gone to the forest to meet Gowda and convince him, but they have only met failure.
When the officials interacted with the villagers and Gowda’s relatives, the consensus was that he should be allowed to live the way he wants to live. “I want to live here and no where else,” Gowda had clearly told the officials. The team of officials returned without Gowda.
