Foreign currency worth 6.70 Lakhs seized at MIA

Mangalore: The officers of Customs at Mangalore International Airport seized foreign currency worth Rs 6.70 Lakhs in Indian rupees on Tuesday June 17.

The currency was transported unethically by a passenger, who had arrived at MIA from Sharjah by Jet Airways Flight No 9W531.

The accused has been identified as Jaleel Kunhu Kutty, a resident of Hidayath Nagar in Kasargod. It is said that he had concealed the currency inside a hand bag along with his clothes.

The above operation was conducted under the supervision of Hemen Gogoi, Deputy Commissioner of Customs, Mangalore International Airport.

The team was lead by HB Venkatesh, Superintendent along with Superintendents RS Venkatram, GV Prabhu, RG Gaonkar, SK Nelli and Inspectors Bikram Chakraborthy, PC Padhi, Prasanna Kumari, Devendra Pratap Singh, Havaldars Gopal and Sowmya Naik.

Further investigation is under progress, under the guidance of the Commissioner of Customs, Mangalore.
