Flight from Dubai to arrive at MIA tomorrow, no entry for public: DC

Mangaluru: The first flight from Dubai to Mangaluru will be arriving at the Mangaluru International Airport on May 12. However, neither members of the general public nor family members of the returnees will be allowed to enter the airport.

Dakshina Kannada district Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh, in a press release, informed that when the returnees arrive at the MIA, they need to undergo a medical check-up. Later, they will be sent either to a hospital or to the quarantine area that has been set up by the district administration.

Transport for the returnees will be arranged by the district administration itself, therefore there is no need for the family members to receive them at MIA. Hence, entry to the airport is restricted on Tuesday, the DC added.

Meanwhile, the district administration has made the necessary arrangements for all the 177 stranded NRIs who will be arriving on May 12.

Sources from the district administration informed that an that the Air India flight will reach MIA at around 10 pm. When they land, they will be screened at the airport before being sent to quarantine at 17 hotels and 12 hostels in the city.

While an officer will gather all the information from the passengers, another officer will look after the transport and accommodation facilities of the passengers, sources informed.
