
Mangaluru: In an unfortunate incident reported from Melantabettu, Belthangady, five people assaulted two, wrongly suspecting them of cattle trafficking. Belthangady police have arrested five people in the incident.
The arrested have been identified as Rajesh Bhat, Rakesh Bhat, Guruprasad, Lokesh and Chidanand. On Wednesday March 31 late at night, it has been reported that the assaulters blocked the vehicle of Abdul Rahim (55) and Mohammed Mustafa (40) from Kuppetti, Tannirpanta village. The duo had come to Belthangady to get their pick-up serviced and decided to stay at relatives in Savanalu. The assault happened at Melantabettu when they were returning from Savanalu and moving towards Belthangady.
The duo have been admitted to Belthangady government hospital and police are now on the lookout for other absconders.
