Mangalore :  A fisherman from Koderi  met a watery grave  when his boat capsized at Hosahitlu Madi in Kirimanjeshwar of Kundapur taluk on Monday August 11. In another incident,  a fisherman from Totabengre who too had ventured into fishing from the estuary   went missing after  he fell into the seas due to strong winds. However, the other fishermen along with him  namely Devadas and Keshav have swam ashore. The missing fisherman is Jagannath Karkera(48).

Meanwhile, the fisherman who drowned in Koderi has been identified as Sanjeeva (45).

In another incident,  a fishing boat named ‘image’ which was owned by Moodbidri’s Abdul Azeez  capsized  about 40 nautical miles away from the estuary  on Sunday August 10 morning. All the ten fishermen on board were rescued.

The Met Department  has warned fishermen against venturing into the sea  as strong winds upto a velocity  of 45 to 55 kmph is expected in the coast.
