Mangaluru: Congress MLA U T Khader on Saturday, December 21, hit back at the BJP government and MP Nalin Kumar Kateel for accusing him of inciting violence in the city.
MP and BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel had, on Saturday, alleged that UTK’s “fire” statement was the cause of the violence that broke out in the city. During a press meet in Mangaluru, Nalin had said, “Khader had predicted that the state will burn if the CAA is enforced”
Other BJP leaders had also laid blame on the MLA and the Congress leaders, claiming that it is they who are behind the protests in the state.
Speaking to the media, Khader said, “Let them (BJP) check the facts before making allegations. The BJP government is blaming me for its failure to maintain law and order in the city.”
“The Chief Minister and Union Minister (D V Sadananda Gowda) have said that the violence was only in my constituency. They need to get the facts first. The violence happened only in their (BJP) constituency. I am making this statement just to tell them the facts,” he added.
He then added that Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa and state home minister Basavaraj Bommai have assured that they would order an inquiry into the violence.
