Mangaluru: A facebook post claiming that an amount of over Rs 17 lacs has been transferred to the bank account of Prema Rao, mother of Deepak Rao who was brutally murdered on January 3, has been going viral since Friday.

According to the post, several people have responded positively to a request to bail out the family that lost its only breadwinner.

“Thank you dear nationalists, we have got Rs 17,43,859 so far. A sincere thanks to one and all for coming forward to help Deepak’s family. Once again, thanks to all contributors. Jai Hind. #SupportDeepakFamily,” the Facebook post read. This post has been going viral on social media since it first went up on Friday.

The FB account holder, Vivek Shetty, published the news along with an attachment of Deepak’s mother’s bank passbook pages. The post, shared by over 350 members, shows that many have transferred money using BHIM UPI app while a few have sought the bank account details.

Many people showed their support and gave encouraging words for the family in the comment section of the said post.

It can be recalled that the details of the bank account held by Deepak’s mother at Syndicate Bank, Katipalla branch was shared on Facebook and WhatsApp, on the evening of Thursday, December 4, with a request to help his family.
