Belthangady :Belthangady police have succeeded in arresting Narayanan (64) of Puduvettu village who was wanted in connection with the  brutal killing of his own son-in-law at the former’s house at Barali near Miyar in Puduvettu village.

Narayanan was arrested on June 15, Sunday  a day after he  hacked to death  his son-on-law Suresh(50) with a pick-axe on June 14, Saturday night. Suresh was the husband of Narayanan’s daughter Shibha. Sources said both Suresh and Narayanan  were alcoholics. On Saturday, Suresh who had to attend a wedding at Charmady had arrived at his  father-in-law’s house where both  consumed alcohol after which there ensued a clash. It is said when Suresh tried to kick Narayanan, he attacked Suresh with a wooden club and pick-axe killing him on the spot.

Narayanan who fled the scene of the crime, was in hiding in a  nearby forest the whole night and  was waiting for a bus at the Pottukere bus stand near Guruvayanakere on Sunday when the Belthangady police arrested him.

The deceased Suresh  had two sons and three daughters.
