“Farmers must use new technology for paddy cultivation”

Moodbidri: An information dissemination programme on paddy cultivation was organised at agriculturist Mijaru Hosamane Jeevandhar Kumar’s residence here on Tuesday.

Indo American Hybrid Seeds company marketing division vice president James William while addressing the gathering said that with less money and less time we can get more yield through a hybrid paddy breed.  The company has developed different hybrid breeds as per different regions and market demands. ‘Samrat breed’ which matches the coastal district has been cultivated at Mijaru in the fields belonging to Jeevandhar Kumar and has received good harvest. Out of 6kgs of seeds, 25 quintal harvest was received.  “Farmers should adjust with the times,  and introduce new models of agriculture in this world of technology”, he said.

Progressive farmers like M Jeevandhar Kumar, Rajavarma Biliangady and Dr V B Vimal Kumar were honoured on the occasion.

Indo American Hybrid Seeds company’s M Prabhakar Reddy, N Siddalingappa, Dr C Devaraj,Yedapadavu gram panchayat president Ramanna Shetty, Mass president Rajaram Bhat Kairangala were present.

Expert Agriculturist Dr L C Soans said that proper information regarding difference between other paddy breeds and hybrid breeds should be imparted to farmers.
