Mangaluru: A couple from Thotabengre has objected to the use of their photo in the recent booklet released by Congress highlighting Mangaluru South MLA J R Lobo’s achievements.
Expressing displeasure over use of their photo captioned as “visit to home of victims whose house was damaged by fire”, the couple, Sharath Mendon and his wife Dhanakshi said, “Our house was affected by the fire on 29 November 2015 and since then we had approached MLA Lobo thrice to seek assistance. However, all of a sudden we find that our photos have been used in the booklet, that too when the fact is that no relief was given to us. This has hurt our sentiments and also has made the people to belive that we have got the assistance from the government which is not true. This is purely an election gimmick.”
Further, they claimed that their ration card, which was burnt in the fire was cancelled without a new one being issued. “We are neglected because we are poor. We do not intend to complain to anyone against this but, we just want the people to know how lies are spread for the sake of votes,” the husband added.
