Karkala :The Congress has clarified that  Biju Thomas, the accused in the case of seizing of huge quantity of explosives at Nakre Durga, Kalya and other places in Karkala taluk  had no links with the party and that he was not even an  ordinary party worker.

The Congress has also taken strong exception to the statement of the BJP linking Biju Thomas to the Congress. Instead the Congress has pointed fingers towards the BJP and has demanded that the BJP leaders must clarify their links with the accused who was seen frequenting the BJP Legislator’s office.

The Karkala Block Congress has further alleged that several BJP leaders were engaged in illegal stone quarry and crusher business in various places of the taluk and that there was a secret  explosives sales racket. It has even charged that the BJP leaders themselves were partners in Biju Thomas’s business as  they owned quarries in the vicinity of the places from where explosives were seized.

In another serious allegation, the Congress has said the accused was shielded by the BJP leaders and  urged for a thorough and impartial probe in this direction.
