Excise officials seize 800g ganja in city; three arrested

Mangaluru: Officials of the Excise Department on Saturday February 6, arrested three ganja peddlers from a house in Jalligudde and recovered 800g of ganja valued at Rs 50-60,000.

The arrested are identified as Chandu alias Venkatesh (28), Noufal (26), both residents of Jalligudde and Avinash (24), a resident of Padil.

Acting on reliable information that the trio was packing ganja at a house and selling them in packets of various sizes, the officials conducted the raid.

As many as 10 packets of 50g , 20 packets of 5g and one packet of 200g ganja was recovered. The arrested were produced before the court.

A team led by Inspector Sathish Kumar Kudroli, Deputy Superintendent Chandrappa, Inspectors Amarnath Bhandary and Chethan Kumar, Sub-Inspector Chandrahas Shetty and constables Jayappa Lamani, Krishna Achar and Anand Gaji conducted the raid on the direction of DC (excise) LA Manjunath, in the guidance of Deputy Superintendent Dr Ashalatha.
