Mangaluru: In protest of the escalating prices of non-subsidised cooking gas despite a fall in crude oil prices internationally, the Dakshina Kannada district unit of the Mahila Congress staged a protest in front of the DC’s office here on Friday, March 17.
Terming the policies of the government as “corporate friendly” and not for the common people, the Dakshina Kannada interim Congress President Ibrahim Kodijaal urged women to take to streets in protest of the government’s anti-women policies.
The protest saw the members resorting to the traditional way of making fire from firewood to prepare tea. A street play was also enacted by the members.
Former mayors Jacintha and Hilda Alva, Ganesh Poojary and others were present.
