On Wednesday, there was a reported suicide of an engineering student. Nitesh Rao, 20, a second-year engineering student, passed away. According to DCP (law and order) Sidharth Goyal, he was living in the Backward Classes Government Hostel, which is close to Bibi Alabi Road.
He is said to have hanged himself in a hostel room at 10:30 am. He had spent the previous two years studying in the city and was a resident of the Udupi area.
His mother and sister both survive him. Approximately five years ago, his father passed away. He claimed that a case has been filed at the Mangaluru North police station based on a complaint made by his mother, and an investigation is underway.
