Energy minister D K Shivakumar promotes solar energy

Mangalore: With an initiative to uplift rooftop solar projects a press meet was organized at Mescom office here on Sunday March 2, in the presence of  of Energy Minister D K Shivakumar.

Addressing the media personnel, D K Shivakumar said that the government has initiated a rooftop solar project, wherein power obtained from solar energy can be used for household needs, and surplus power is passed on to the electricity grid by meter.

He stated that the consumers of rooftop solar energy will be paid Rs 8.40 per slab. Solar policy is new and people should come forward to implement it, he added.

On the occasion MLA J R Lobo also urged to have a new chief electrical inspectorate in Mangalore for four districts so that there is better assessment.

Mescom MD Govindappa was also present during the meeting.
