
Mangaluru: The Mangaluru city police on Wednesday arrested a shop owner, for allegedly buying robbed garments worth Rs 40 lakh, over a period of time, from a person who was employed at another shop.
The police gave the name of the accused as Nawaz – the shop owner, a resident of Kudroli. The prime accused Adil from Ullala, who robbed and supplied the garments has manage to escape to a foreign country, the police said.
According to the reports, Adil was employed by Sagar Dressers, which is located at Tokyo Market in the city. Without the knowledge of the employer, Adil robbed garments for the shop and sold it to another shop for three years. Nawaz, the accused who bought the robbed goods is the owner of Marina Fashions, his colleague Safwan is said to be absconding.
The police said that Adil used a duplicate key of the rear door through which he robbed costly dresses and sold to another shops however recently, the watchman of the building found a pack of cloths kept on the generator which had the seal of Sagar Dressers on its wrapper. When the owner checked his stocks in their shop, he discovered the theft.
The police seized goods worth Rs 1 lakh from Nawaz and seized goods worth Rs 50,000 from Safwan’s house.
Kamruddin, the owner of Sagar dressers registered a complained in Bundar police station.
