Mangalore:A family residing near Killur at Pavoor here is thanking its stars. None of the family members were hurt even when a huge electric tower came crashing down on their house during the heavy rains accompanied by strong winds which lashed the area on November 3, Sunday.

The house however was partially damaged. Moreover, it was nothing but sheer luck that the high-tension tower was out of order since some time.
There were a total of six persons including a baby in the house of Gangayya Poojari when the mishap took place. The total loss has been estimated at Rs 2.5 lakh. Sumathi and her nine month old baby who otherwise used to sleep in the room which has been damaged due to the tower crash, had slept in another room that night and were thus saved from an impending danger.
Health Minister UT Khader has visited the spot. Meanwhile, locals blame the negligence of the KPTCL for the mishap.
