
Mangaluru: In order to rectify the problems of deletion of names from the voter list, mistakes in voter identity cards among others, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) would conduct an Electors Verification Programme (EVP) by paying visit to the houses of very voters from Sunday, September onwards. As this verification process has already started, the process of addition or deletion of names in voters’ list can be done till October 15.
Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Selvamani R inaugurated the EVP at Nethravathi Auditorium on Sunday, September 1 and urged the public to make best use of the programme. “We have been receiving complaints like missing of names in voters’ list due to which they are not allowed to cast their votes at the polling booth. The EVP has been started to set right these issues,” she said.
District ambassador of Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) Col. Sharath Bhandary informed about the importance of voting right.
Meanwhile, a pamphlet on EVP was released on the same occasion. Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) M J Roopa presided over the programme. Assistant Commissioner Ravichandra Naik, SVEEP nodal officer Sudhakar among others were present.
