Udupi : Elections are round the corner and like bird finding themselves happy and gay in spring with enough food in the front, our Republicans are shaking off their sleep and lethargy. May 5 being the scheduled date for polls for the Vidhana Sabha as per the directives of the Election Commission, the hitherto quiet parties have stood up in mustering strength. Elections is a jolly good time for merry making and settling scores with others, is it ? Each one is hankering for repairing his damaged ego, settling scores, spit on others, including dirty linen in the Public ! Charges, counter-charges, frivolous/concocted charges, on the spot speeches, strategies are all the highlights of the Election Process in a Democratic set up here.
After all ballots are more powerful than the bullets they say. They also say that Democracy is based on the principle that ordinary people have extra ordinary strength in them. Come election, you will know what the power of the masses is !
Hearing the date announced in the Media recently, the Party Workers phoned up each other and informed of it. A kind of glow is found clearly visible in the aspirants to the seat and big discussions at high level are taking place over the assigning of seats to parties. Each one is thinking in his/her own lines. If the supporters of the aspirants for seats don’t get ticket, they they get disappointed !
Fight for Tickets alone !
At certain Constituencies already the candidates having been fixed, in other constituencies there is a war raging within the parties. After obtaining tickets there will be real war again !
Those get disillusioned in the process over not getting ticket, candidates those are disillusioned are yet to high jump to other parties. There would be handled/managed/controlled by their Party Leaders eventually. The petty leaders believing very well that it’s the right time to get the leaders to lend them a year, they get to behave in a strange fashion.
Accusations galore
They hurl out accusations freely over one another to prove their superiority or worth. When the persons from the opposite party get jubilant and give cat calls, it gets on to the other person’s nerves. A few are well chosen for speeches. Instead of talking over ideologies they hurl out personal accusations, in the bargain they don’t care even to wash the dirty linen in the public of their adversary and derive immense pleasure out of it. The leader class would have their own vested interests always. They will have their axes to grind. Facing all this itself is the art of Politics, the art of managing people !
Elections are veritably Festivals for whom ?
If at one corner Congress is feeling high & elated, BJP is into introspection. If the strategies wielded hitherto could be found suitable, ideal they decide that they could employ the strategy for the Vidhana Sabha Elections too now. Certain people are open to mend themselves against the ill trodden path already.
If a few people can derive satisfaction from whatever they can lay hands on over the benefits received from their leaders ; certain parties deem it fit to find happiness or ecstacy only in defeating Congress or BJP depending on their leanings towards their political ideologies.
Although limits or ceilings are hurled over the parties for election expenses, there is no dearth for those Party Workers who would revel in merry making in the festival called going to the polls, the electorate in India which is a jolly good experience for eating, drinking and merry making. Who cares ? It’s democracy after all ! Ha..
