Mangalore: An elderly man jumped off the Netravati Bridge and died despite the locals’ attempts to save him down for over a half an hour on Wednesday evening July 9.

The 60-year-old man allegedly committed suicide although his identity and the reason of his extreme step is not yet known.

According to the on-looker the man was clothed in white and casually walked through the bridge. He then all of a sudden jumped into river.

The passerby stopped their vehicles and rushed to his rescue. However as it was raining heavily, it was difficult to get into the water.

Nevertheless the locals searched the man for more than half an hour and found him. But by then, the man had already breathed his last.

Ullal police have registered a case.
