Edn Minister moots expert panel on RTE

Mangalore: State Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Kimmane Ratnakar said that the State government will form an expert committee in the upcoming days to understand the positive and the negative outcomes of the Right to Education Act 2009 (RTE).

Addressing the reporters at the District Congress Office on Monday June 16, the minister stated that the committee will be initiated so that the Right to Education Act 2009 (RTE) renders complete benefit to the people.

He said during this academic year 25 percent students from the minority communities have been admitted to unaided minority schools, and that the government will maintain this yardstick for this academic year.

However he said that the issue will be discussed in a committee meeting to identify minority institutions based on percentage of reservation and the Act will be put to use at it best.

With regards to the allocation as well as upgradation in the syllabus of the primary and secondary education to the level of NCERT (National Council of Educational Research and Training) syllabus, the minister said the State Government has been taking different measures. Over the years the government will improve the quality of syllabus, he added.
