DySP visits Banjaru Malekudiya tribe colony, assures help

Belthangady: Bantwal DySP Raveesh visited 40 families of the Malekudiya tribe in Banjarumale in Neriya village of Belthangady taluk on the Western Ghats here on Thursday and listened to the grievances of the residents belonging to the community.

The visit comes in the wake of the recent scheduled caste meeting held to discuss the problems faced by Banjaru Malekudiya community.

The residents of the colony demanded better road facility. A land owner has already come forward to grant land for the same. The DySP assured all possible help and said that he would bring the demand to the notice of the officials.

One of the resident said, “We need to travel 30kms to get ration items. Hence, we demand that the ration vehicle directly comes to the colony.” They also demanded an anganwadi centre for the colony which as almost 40 houses.

The DySP assured that he would bring the issue to the notice of the district administration and the government through district police superintendent. Dalit leader Shekhar Layila was present on the occasion.
