Mangaluru: With rain water stagnating on the roads, the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) of Pakkaladka-Bajal and Jalligudde branch members staged a unique protest by fishing in the water which has been clogging in the area due to delayed railway underpass at Bajal, on Friday.

DYFI Secretary Santhosh Bajal, addressing the protesters said that the reason behind the inordinate delay is that the state government wants to mint money along with the railway department in connection to a new road project.

Due to delay in the underpass work, connective roads to two areas-Faisalnagar and Vijayanagar have too been languishing, leaving people in lurch.

“Despite several pleas, the elected representatives have turned dead ears. The elected representatives and officials concerned are busy passing the buck at each other. With this, there has been no progress in the project at all,” he said adding that while Mayor Harinath says the problem will be solved in four days, the officials say it is not possible to solve the problem in four days.

Bajal said that the DYFI will picket MCC office if the work in the region is not completed at the earliest.
