DYFI demands CBI probe into the death of Dal activist

Mangaluru: Even after a year into the death of Bajrang Dal activist Rajesh Poojary, the state police and subsequently the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has failed to nab the real culprits behind the gruesome murder.

Arguing this, DYFI president Muneer Katipalla demanded CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) probe into the death. He was addressing at the protest demonstration held at Deputy Commissioner’s office. Katipalla taking sharp jibe at the state government said government has been sitting on the issue since one year.

Rajesh Poojary was murdered on March 21, 2014 at Kalpane Benjanpadavu. The police arrested accused, Irshad Hussain, Imran, Isaac, who currently are out on bail. The police investigation led by two circle inspectors from the costal district nabbed these innocents in connection to the case to hush up the truth.

The three ministers hailing from this district, he alleged were protecting the interests of sand mafia, builder lobby, but made no time to persuade this case. Muneer referring old cases, Padmapria murder case, Sowjanya rape case contended CID consistently looked unprofessional in unearthing the true perpetrators. 

“Many cases are in the cold storage of the CID”

The faith of criminal investigation institution has been waning due to which public hit the streets across the state demanding D K Ravi’s death case to give it to the CBI. “The real offenders have to be booked”. He added, if the CID does not file the satisfactory report acquitting; Irshad, Hussain, Imran and Isaac, the DYFI carry out gherao at district minister Rai’s house and Mangalore North MLA Mohiuddin Bava. However he also demanded the case has to be handed over to the CBI.
