Ullal: Two persons were assaulted by a group here on NH 66 near Kallapu on Tuesday, August 18 late night. Preethesh (23) from Thokkottu Krishnanagar and Kavith Poojary from Ullalbail were the assaulted.
The incident took place on Tuesday night when the duo was travelling in a Ritz car from Mangaluru to Thokkottu. Near Adamkudru, they had an argument with a tempo carrying fish in connection with having overtaken the other vehicle.
However, after sometime both the vehicles had moved ahead. But as the Ritz car reached Kallapu, more than 100 people belonging to another community assembled and were waiting for the duo. Ten members from the group assaulted them.

The situation was out of control for a while. The Ullal police arrived at the spot and dispersed the crowd and took the injured to a private hospital in Thokkottu.
