Duo accused of 2006 Raju Kotian murder case attack each other, 1 arrested

Mangaluru: One of the accused in the 2006 Raju Kotian murder case was arrested on Tuesday, November 13 following a fight between him and his accomplice in crime. Kotian , a fisherman from the Mogaveera community was allegedly brutally murdered by the duo.

The accused duo Sohail (24) and Asif aka Achi (22) got into an altercation and Asif was severely injured in a knife attack. He was admitted to a nearby hospital. Later Sohail was arrested. Both are said to be the residents of Kodi, an area in Ullal.

Background
Back in 2006, Sohail and Asif had murdered Raju Kotian, who was on the way for his way for fishing. They had smashed Kotian’s face beyond identification with a stone.

Following this, situation had turned volatile in Ullal and resulted in another murder and an attempt to murder.

Sohail and Asif, who were out on bail, were not in good terms. Earlier, Sohail had physically assaulted Asif. As a revenge, Asif had entered a saloon, with three of his gang mates, where Sohail was present and had attacked him with a razor in a bid to murder Sohail.

In retaliation, Sohail attacked Asif on Tuesday with a knife.

Police rushed to the spot and admitted the injured Sohail and Asif to a hospital. Sohail recovered and after assessing his condition was produced before the court by the police.

Two attempts to murder case have been filed in the Ullal Police Station.
