Duo accused in several theft cases nabbed

Mangalore: A duo accused in several theft cases have been successfully nabbed by the Puttur police. The two have around 15 inter-state cases of robbery against them.

The accused have been identified as P A Mohammad Kabeer (23) and Farooq Sajuddin (30) – both residents of Kasaragod district – were arrested at Arlapadavu, Puttur taluk. They were produced in front of the media during a press meet on Tuesday September 23, at the SP office.

Addressing the press meet,  SP Dr Sharanappa said the two have over nine cases of theft against them in Puttur Rural and Puttur Town police stations. As per the cases registered at the two stations, the men have allegedly cumulatively stolen more than Rs. 9 lakh worth of gold ornaments and cash, he said.

The two are also suspected to have also committed a theft in Mangalore East Police station limits and at least four more in Kasaragod district.

The arrest was conducted under the direction of SP Dr Sharanappa, additional SP T P Shivakumar, Puttur sub-divisional ACP H D Mendonca, and led by puttur town police inspector Manjayya B K, Puttur rural police sub-inspector Jagadish Reddy R and town police SI Abdul Khader and other police personnel.
