Mangaluru: The taps in Mangaluru city went dry over the last several weeks as the water level in Thumbay dam depleted drastically due to delayed rainfalls.

However, as per sources, the water level had picked up and now stands at about 7 feet.
With this positive sign, the Deputy Commissioner has signaled to the MCC to supply water to the city every day.
The district administration intends to maintain the dam water level at 6.5 feet.
A drought-like situation had gripped Mangaluru City, due to which the administration had decided to supply water once in three days. Even private water suppliers failed to meet the water demands of the people as they could not procure water from private water sources.
The monsoon is likely to hit the region in a week or two.
