Kasargod: The district witnessed agricultural losses estimated to stand at Rs 3.5 cr due to drought and rains.
As per details available till May 23, crops such as areca, coconut, banana, pepper, rubber and others have been lost due to acute water crisis and rains coupled with strong wind that lashed over the district over the last few days.
Paddy grown on three hectare and 12 hectare of and cultivating vegetables have been lost due to inadequate water supplies, along with 25,442 areca trees, 42,290 banana plants, 8548 coconut trees, 5500 pepper creepers and 6000 rubber trees.
Meanwhile, due to heavy rains and win 10,600 coconut, 19,200 banana, 1000 coconut, 1715 rubber trees fell.
