Mangalore: The twelfth general body meeting zilla panchayat was held at the chairmanship of Koragappa Naika here on Thursday June 13.
It was decided to forward to the state administration the decisions that are taken with regard to changes in Basava housing project along with a delegation of zilla panchayat to meet housing minister.
The zilla panchayat CEO K N Vijayaprakash advised to take strict action on hotels, restaurants and eateries who fail to maintain cleanliness and hygiene. The spraying of disinfectant has to be carried out rigorously to curb breeding of mosquitoes. The panchayat development officers, secretaries had to take earnest interest in clearing the storm-water drains in their respective villages, advised Vijayaprakash.
Koragappa Naika instructed the health department to take all measures in curbing the imminent communicable diseases by administering timely medication.
The zilla panchayat chief executive engineer Satyanarayan said that Rs 46.24 crore are being sanctioned to supply drinking water during 2013 – 14. The pending works in this regard will be swiftly completed. The works of Bahugram drinking water project in the district are in progress, while tenders are called for a few projects, said Satyanarayan.
MLC K Monappa Bhandary, zilla panchayat members Devaraj, Mamata Gatti, M S Mohammed, C K Chandrakala, Devaki Sanjeev Gowda, Kumari, Eshwar Kateel, Santosh Kumar Rai, Tulasi G Poojary urged the zilla panchayat to take early action on curbing rising cases of dengue fever across the district.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, zilla panchayat vice president Ritesh Shetty, steering Committee president Asha Timmappa Gowda, Jayasree K and others were present at the occasion.
