Mangaluru: The All India Arecanut Growers Association has urged the arecanut growers not to panic over the fluctuations in arecanut prices, claiming that the market price will witness stability soon.
Association president Ashok Kinila and secretary Mahesh Puchapady, in a joint press release, stated that the corona scare will have impact on the arecanut price in the next few days. “The prices of arecanut may decrease in the next few days, but arecanut growers should not panic over the prices. It is very common for the prices of arecanut to fall during the end of March and get set right after a few days. Arecanut growers should not assume that the prices will slip further down, owing to the corona scare, and should not be in a hurry to sell their arecanut stock all of a sudden. The prices will definitely increase after a few days,” the press release stated.
The association has also asked arecanut growers to extend their helping hand towards the government which has been striving hard to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
