Mangalore : The Document Writers’ Association organised a protest in front of the DC office here on Tuesday July 22 demanding a rise in the fee of document writers.

Addressing the protestors, Vittal Bhandari Harekala, State General Secretary of the Association said the document writers have been engaged in the task of filling application forms of various government departments as well as writing documents to be submitted to government offices, know no other skills but writing. This being the case, it is not proper on the part of the Deputy Commissioner to all of a sudden direct public to pay just Rs 2 for writing documents.
Pointing out that the DC has taken such a step after a document writer used a fake seal, Bhandari said the prescribed fee was very less as a writer gets just 10 documents per day. There are around 17 persons who depend on this profession, he said and requested the DC to raise the fee to Rs 10 per document.
