Mangalore : Mangalore Urban Development Authority Chairman Ramesh Kumar has urged the members of the public not to pay heed to false rumours by opposition parties that the MUDA was not granting permission to construct houses in three to five cents of land.
Speaking to reporters here on March 23, Saturday, the MUDA Chairman said the BJP government had waived the fee for 3 cents land, while it offered 50 per cent concession in fee in case of 6 cents land and 25 per cent in case of 12 cents land.
Ramesh Kumar pointed out towards the advertisements issued by the Congress prior to the ULB elections stating that poor were unable to build houses in 3 to 5 cents land during the BJP rule and described it as totally false. It was just a way of gaining votes through foul means, he alleged. The public need not pay heed to the rumour and there is scope to construct a house even in 1.33 cents land with a three feet wide road, the MUDA Chairman clarified.
The present zonal regulations have permitted construction of stair cases and lavatories in setback areas and therefore setback violation has reduced significantly, he added. He said the present regulations were very much pro-people and reduces scope for violation of rule contrary to what it was prior to 1992 when the then CDP regulations did not permit all these.
Deputy Speaker N Yogish Bhat, MLC Monappa Bhandari, Rajgopal Rai and others were present.
