Mangaluru: Coming in support of ‘triple talaq’ and polygamy, DK Congress Interim President Ibrahim Kodichal launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narenddra Modi and said that the PM Must first cleanse himself and then lead the Swach Bharath Campaign.

In a spree of political criticism, Kodichal mentioned that the Prime Minister has no regard for the Muslims in the country and if he did, he would have stopped attempts to abolish uniform civil code and triple talaq system.

“In Islam, the wife of a man permits her husband to marry another woman if she can not continue a sexual relationship with him due to health reasons. Hence the husband can get married to another woman and live under the same roof with his first wife. It doesn’t mean that the husband will ignore his first wife”, Kodichal said while justifying polygamy and rejecting uniform civil code.

Making a personal remark on Modi, Ibrahim questioned him and said, “The revelation of Modi having a married a lady earlier in his life has led to various thoughts. When he could not give justice to his own wife after having married her, how can he give justice to the whole nation?”

When informed about the case presented to the court by three Muslim ladies with allegations of being mistreated under triple talaaq and polygamy, Ibrahim Kodichal said that the ladies here do not have any complaint on that note. “It is priority for a Muslim man to satisfy all the needs of his wife and only then marry another woman while still keeping the needs of the first woman fulfilled”, he said adding that the BJP has not done anything good for the Muslims after coming to power at the centre.
