Puttur: Believe it or not, an SMS by Divith Rai, Home Minister of Haradi Government School in Puttur and a student of eighth standard, to State Home Minister G Parameshwar, bringing to the latter’s notice the issue of transfer of four teachers has yielded result.
It is said that Minister for Education Tanveer Sait has confirmed cancellation of the transfers and has lauded the move of the student who brought the issue to the notice of the Home Minister.
“We do not want the students to suffer,” said Sait adding that the transfers had been declared on the basis of the student attendance recorded in the school. “Since the number of students in the school had dipped last year, we had decided to re-deploy the extra teachers to nearby schools. But with a directive from Parameshwara, who is also the Congress chief in the state, the transfers of these four teachers have been cancelled,” Bangalore Mirror quoted Sait.
On Wednesday, Rai had sent an SMS to the Home Minister informing about how the school with 434 students in total was doing well and how abrupt transfer of four teacher would affect the school. Immediately responding to the SMS, Parameshwar had forwarded the issue to Sait.
