Mangaluru: The Chief of District Seva Dal, Ashraf was detained for allegedly assaulting a couple and their minor daughter over a petty issue here on Monday, July 18.

The incident occurred on Sunday, when John Monteiro along with his wife and daughter were out for shopping in their car. Meanwhile, Ashraf who was in the other car blocked the way by parking his vehicle in the middle of the lane. He then refused to move away. According to sources, Ashraf also assaulted the couple and their daughter when they asked him to move his vehicle.

Ashraf was detained after the couple approached Bunder police and lodged a complaint against the leader. Ashraf was booked under POCSO Act. It is learnt that Ashraf has lodged a counter case against the couple.
