District early intervention centre will be inaugurated soon: U T Khader

Mangaluru: State Health Minister U T Khader said that the district early intervention centre for early detection and management of pre and post birth diseases under National Health Mission (NHM) will be launched soon.

“To control infant mortality rate, to manage mental and physical health and to increase school attendance rate is the main motto of this centre,” he added.

He further said that detection of 4D’s and its management, that is defects at birth, deficiencies, diseases and development, delays and disabilities is the intention behind launching this centre.

“If any defects are found in an infant soon after delivery, then the hospital staff should refer the infant to the district DEIC. In the early infancy stage i.e. from 6 weeks to 6 years asha and anganavadi workers should refer the baby to the DEIC. In the adolescent period, school health inspection team should visit all the government and aided schools. If any such cases are found, then they should be referred to the DEIC,” he informed.

Commenting on ‘Santwana Harish Scheme’ he said that 387 cases have been reported in the state until now. Certificates will be issued for the person who will admit the injured to the hospital. A state level ceremony will be held to award and appreciate their effort.

District Medical Officer Rajeshwari Devi, Block Medical Officer Ramakrishna Rao and others were present.
